Farmer trainings conducted within the scope of livestock projects carried out under Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) continue. Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz met with farmers from Burdur's Ağlasun district who received training within the scope of the project.

In the trainings held in Ağlasun district, where approximately 7 thousand producers from 177 villages affiliated to 11 districts in Burdur have received the Conscious Farmer Certificate so far, MAKÜ Faculty of Veterinary Medicine faculty members Prof. Dr. Şima Şahinduran, Prof. Dr. Faruk Pehlivanoğlu, Dr. Lecturer Eren Kuter provided training on animal nutrition, birth, and animal diseases.
Ağlasun District Governor Tahir Demir, Ağlasun Mayor Ali Ulusoy, Ağlasun District Agriculture and Forestry Director Osman Güneş thanked MAKÜ for providing such an opportunity to the producers. Mayor Ali Ulusoy also conveyed the demands from the breeders and requested that these trainings be conducted for small ruminants as well.
Providing information about the livestock projects carried out by MAKÜ, Rector Korkmaz said the following about the trainings: “The involvement of women in the initiative shows that the business develops more healthily. We had previously held a workshop in Ağlasun. In this workshop, we had identified the main areas of initiative for Ağlasun as agriculture and tourism. Although there is a declining trend in agriculture, breeders still maintain their presence in the highlands. They continue their work in the same way in cattle breeding. Our farmer training activities have reached 177 villages as of today. We set out with the slogan 'every village a classroom.' Our professors say, 'the issues of our breeders and farmers are as valuable and important as the scientific R&D we will produce,' and they continue their training day and night. Together with our professors, we developed a quality system in the form of A, B, and C to evaluate the quality of farms as MAKÜ. This system was included in the investment program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry this year. It was also published in the Official Gazette two days ago. We have a mission, a duty, and a responsibility given to us by our President in terms of Regional Development. With this responsibility, we have been producing projects for years and continue to work. After the trainings, books published by our university will also be distributed to you. When you examine those books, you will see that they also mention the commonly known mistakes. I wish the training to be beneficial to all of you and thank you for your participation.”
After the speeches, Conscious Farmer Certificates and the breeder's handbook were presented to the farmers from Burdur and Ağlasun center and the villages of Çamlıdere, Dereköy, Hisarköy, Kibrit, Mamak, Yazır, Yeşilbaşköy, and Beyköy.
